The Méribel property market

The Méribel ski resort is located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, in the heart of the Alps. Méribel is a treasure trove for high mountain enthusiasts and offers its visitors an exceptional setting in all seasons. The village of Méribel is situated at 1,400 meters above sea level and is part of the 3 Valleys ski area, with 600 km of slopes for winter sports fans. Méribel has also catered to cross-country skiing enthusiasts with 33 km of marked trails. Finally, Méribel also offers fun areas for new types of skiing, such as the 'snowpark' or 'moonpark'.

A popular destination that attracts families

Both family-friendly and chic, Méribel is a ski resort that continues to attract many tourists. Ideally located in the heart of the 3 Valleys, Méribel has successfully combined prestigious chalets with family residences amidst its snowy landscapes. At the heart of the Méribel ski area, this rich and prestigious real estate market meets all expectations. From ski-in, ski-out chalets to luxurious, comfortable residences, there is a wide variety of options for sports enthusiasts as well as those seeking a relaxing, cozy atmosphere. Beyond the accommodations, Méribel has many attractions to charm visitors. With the wide range of activities available, Méribel has gained an international reputation, attracting many families who come to enjoy winter activities such as snowshoeing, ice skating, ice hockey, sledding, or to visit the restaurants and shops that remain open throughout the season.

A stable real estate market with investment opportunities

While Méribel has 2,000 inhabitants in the summer, the number of residents can rise to 20,000 during the winter! The presence of a wealthy clientele has led Méribel to develop a high-end real estate market. Since 2014, the Méribel real estate market has significantly risen in quality, reaching record prices in 2019. Due to limited supply, some truly exceptional properties have sold for up to 28,000 euros per square meter, a staggering price (+30% in one year for apartments in new developments). A non-renovated chalet should sell for between 14,000 euros and 17,000 euros per square meter, while a high-end construction—meeting the majority of our clientele's demand—ranges between 17,000 euros and 25,000 euros per square meter. The Méribel real estate market has been stable and strong for many years and remains a highly sought-after high-mountain haven for investors due to its natural appeal and high profitability potential.

A wide range of high-end properties: chalets and apartments

In Méribel, our agency offers many opportunities to purchase high-end chalets and/or apartments. The most sought-after apartments are T6 and T7 with terraces and views over the heights of the resort. As for the chalets, true gems in our catalog, demand continues to grow for spacious properties, ideally located, and with high-end features that match the prestige associated with Sotheby’s International Realty.
